ACC 1100 Survey of Accounting

Survey of financial accounting for non-accounting majors. Accounting concepts, financial statements, internal control, cash, and payroll.

Course Outcomes
  • Evaluate the results of operations and financial strength of a simple corporation on the basis of its financial statements
  • Explain the impact variable, fixed, and mixed costs have on a business entity's financial performance in relation to changes in sales and production volume
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the generally accepted accounting principles and concepts that apply to the accounting process
  • Allocate overhead costs to products and services using traditional methods and activity based costing
  • Apply basic managerial accounting concepts to problems of management planning, control, and performance evaluation
  • Solve a variety of business problems using appropriate accounting tools and methods
  • Construct basic financial statements for a simple corporate business entity
