ART 1101 2-D Foundations

The study of composition/visual elements with color theory applied to utilizing design principles (using line, shape, texture, value and color) and color psychology emphasizing the Josef Albers color theories in a studio setting with emphasis on hands-on learning. Six studio hours per week.

Prerequisites: NONE

Course Outcomes
  • Analyze one's own artwork and the artwork of others using compositional and color theory.
  • Demonstrate compositional skills by using the language of composition (basic elements: line, shape, texture and value) to analyze the student's own artwork and the artwork of others.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of the theories of color psychology, color perception, and color application.
