ART 2235 History of Photography

Historical survey of photography as an art form from its beginnings in the 1830's until the present day; developments in photographic processes, artistic trends, and study of major photographic artists.

  • Analyze photographs in terms of technique, style and elements of composition and trace the development of photography as an art form.
  • Recognize the art of major photographic artists and explain their achievements.
  • Describe how the invention of photography came about and how photography evolved.
