AUT 2230 Hybrid Electric Vehicle Systems

Hybrid vehicle safety, theory and operation of automotive hybrid high voltage systems, batteries, charging systems, drivetrain components and emission systems. One classroom, three lab hours per week.

Prerequisites: AUT 2214

Course Outcomes
  • Demonstrate the correct use of a milli-ohmmeter and a mega-ohmmeter as they are used during hybrid electrical vehicle service.
  • Perform a procedure to enter the vehicle into an inspection mode that keeps the internal combustion engine actively running.
  • Perform a procedure to verify that the high voltage system has been disabled for service.
  • Perform a procedure to enter the vehicle into a compression test mode for testing the engines compression reading.
  • Perform a procedure that is used to test high voltage personal protective equipment (PPE).
