CAT 1813 NCCER Construction Craft Laborer Level 2A

Orientation to the skilled trade of Construction Craft Laborer Level 2. Topics covered include reinforcing concrete, vertical formwork, horizontal formwork, heavy equipment (forklift and crane) safety, steel erection, and electrical safety. This course utilizes NCCER (National Center for Construction Education & Research) core curriculum. One classroom, two lab hours per week.

Prerequisites: Approval of Department

Course Outcomes
  • Students will learn and utilize NCCER core curriculum.
  • Learn, identify, and select the appropriate type of reinforcing materials.
  • Students will identify types of framework and its application.
  • Students will cover the safety and precautions for using heavy equipment, including forklifts and cranes.
  • Students will learn and identify safety practices for cranes and forklifts.
  • Demonstrate basic safety while working with electric.
