CHN 1101 Elementary Chinese I
Foundation for understanding, speaking, reading and writing Chinese. Work outside of class and/or in the language laboratory is required.

Course Outcomes
- Express oneself with simple Chinese phrases and common expressions in a situational dialogue and cultural context.
- Learn and master the Pinyin system for basic pronunciation and basic strokes for character writing.
- Learn basic sentence structures. Use the following grammar concepts: present and past tenses, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs.
- Read and summarize the content of lessons in simple sentences.
