CIS 2650 Ethical Hacker

Intermediate level system and network security related topics including legal ramifications, assessment, social engineering, vulnerability testing, system hacking, network scanning and analysis, mobile device security, Cloud and IoT, cryptography, and remediation. This course includes the TestOut Ethical Hacker certification exam and will help students in their preparation for the ECCouncil Certified Ethical Hacker CEH exam.

Prerequisites: CIS 1130 or CIS 1411 and CIS 2640

Course Outcomes
  • Understand the threats of malicious hackers and social engineering. Identify who and what threat actors face. Learn how to use ethical hacking skills to mitigate threats from malicious users.
  • Identify, analyze, and secure all of the different devices on a industry or home network. Learn about the complexity of modern networks with many different interconnected environments such at systems, network, cloud computing, Internet of Things, and mobile devices.
  • Assess, exploit, and remediate system and network security. Use ethical hacking to perpetrate exploits against a system with the intent to find vulnerabilities so that security weaknesses can be addressed, and the system can be made more secure. Understand Ethical Hacking and its place in our modern connected world and how it is a defense against Social Engineering. Know the difference between Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing. Learn how to use Ethical Hacking as a tool to secure networks and systems.
