DAN 1174 Jazz Dance I

Introduction of the fundamentals of Jazz dance technique for the beginning student. Two classroom, two lab hours per week.

Prerequisites: NONE

Course Outcomes
  • Maintain proper body alignment appropriate to Jazz dance, while performing simple and complex movement sequences.
  • Demonstrate a kinesthetic awareness of the movement dynamics particular to Jazz dance technique, including stance, balance, weight transfer, rhythm and coordination.
  • Demonstrate an ability to perform Jazz dance technique with a sense of dynamics and musicality.
