Development of the people of the United States in political, social, economic and cultural areas from Reconstruction to the present.

Course Outcomes
- Apply critical thinking to analyze primary and secondary sources (i.e. historical analysis of text), scholarly historical monographs, biographies, and syntheses, and use them to construct well-organized, well-argued historical accounts.
- Articulate historical arguments in a variety of forms of communication.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and apply basic historical concepts, methodologies, and approaches to the understanding of contemporary social, political, and economic issues and trends.
- Explain the causes, effects and relevance of specific historical events and/or periods within the broader historical context. Develop an understanding of the diverse origins of the American people and their political, social, economic, and cultural interactions in the 19th and 20th centuries.
- Demonstrate understanding of diverse historical interpretations of major eras and topics.
