Overview of the history of Africa from prehistoric times to the present; special emphasis on modern challenges the continent faces.

Course Outcomes
- Apply knowledge of African history to the understanding of contemporary social, political, and economic issues and trends.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the evolving historical interpretations of major topics and eras in African history.
- Demonstrate reading and comprehension skills by synthesizing the content of scholarly writing on African history and evaluating the effectiveness of written works.
- Critically analyze primary source documents in African history and use them to construct well-organized, well-argued historical accounts.
