HRT 1109 Greenhouse Management Capstone

This course is the culminating course in the Greenhouse Management Certificate. This course combines the knowledge obtained in HRT 1101 to HRT 1108 resulting in an applicable working understanding of how to manage a greenhouse in today's economy. Two classroom, two lab hours per week.

Prerequisites: NONE

Course Outcomes
  • Students will combine the knowledge and skills obtained from HRT 1101 to HRT 1108 to produce a rubric -based portfolio that includes samples of the following: mastered greenhouse tasks, propagation techniques, ecosystem maintenance / enhancement, business reports, and marketing ideas.
  • Students will utilize knowledge and skills obtained in HRT 1101 through HRT 1108 to manage a state-of-the-art container production greenhouse through the development of a business plan.
  • Students will develop a marketing plan based on the identified customer profile. Strategies to encourage business growth will be evaluated.
