MAT 2270 Calculus & Analytic Geometry I

The first course of a three-semester sequence of courses. Topics include limits and continuity, the derivative and its applications including related rates and optimization, L'Hopital's rule, antiderivatives, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, integration by substitution. Traditional testing (proctored or in Testing Center) is used in all online sections.

Prerequisites: MAT 1570 or MAT 1580 and Other (with a grade of C or better or satisfactory score on math placement test)

Course Outcomes
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply definitions and theorems to evaluate the limit of a function and to determine the continuity of a function at a point or on an interval.
  • Demonstrate the ability to determine the derivative of a function and evaluate definite integrals.
  • Solve area, related rates, motion and optimization problems using derivatives and integrals.
