MAT 2280 Calculus & Analytic Geometry II

The second course of a three-semester sequence of courses. Techniques of integration, applications of integration, numerical integration, improper integrals, infinite sequences and series, power series, parametric equations, polar coordinates, conic sections.

Prerequisites: MAT 2270 and Other (with a grade of C or better or satisfactory score on math placement test)

Course Outcomes
  • Demonstrate the ability to check the applicability of a theorem/test and determine whether a sequence or series converges or diverges.
  • Demonstrate the ability to graph conic sections in translated coordinate systems using polar and rectangular coordinates.
  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate definite and indefinite integrals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve applications problems involving area, volumes of solids of revolution, work, center of mass, and arc length.
