MUS 1102 Introduction to Aural Skills

Fundamentals of sight singing, dictation, ear training including reading, hearing and notating rhythms, melodies and intervals.

Prerequisites: NONE

Course Outcomes
  • Notate durational values of notes and rests in simple meters.
  • Notate pitches of a melody in simple meters on treble clef.
  • Notate major scale intervals within the octave.
  • Sight-sing melodies in major keys and simple meters.
  • Count rhythms in simple and compound meters.
  • Detect errors in pitch and/or rhythm in melodies played by instructor.
