OTA 1214 Occupational Therapy & Adults with Physical Dysfunction Lab

Focus on physical dysfunction intervention to increase independence in areas of occupation. Screening and evaluation of occupational performance affected by physical dysfunction. Includes use of occupations for purpose of physical dysfunction assessments and interventions. Six lab hours per week.

Prerequisites: OTA 1111 and Restricted to Majors

Course Outcomes
  • Students will remember interprofessional perspectives including rehabilitation, disability & developmental as well as person/population-environment-occupation models, theories and frameworks of practice as they pertain to working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
  • Students will remember the basic tenets of OT as they apply to working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
  • Students will remember the basics of the OT Process (screening, evaluating, developing intervention plan, implementing the intervention plan & outcomes) as it pertains to working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
  • Students will remember the basics of the context of OT service delivery, leadership and management of OT services at a learning level.
  • Students will remember OT professional ethic, responsibilities & values when working with adults with physical dysfunction at a learning level.
