PHI 2206 Introduction to Ethics

Historical inquiry into the major concepts and attitudes of moral and ethical theory in Western society, emphasizing the role of human responsibility and the conditions for making ethical judgments.

Course Outcomes
  • Develop an ability to (re)present complex philosophical ideas, theories, and perspectives fairly, objectively, and critically in writing and oral discourse.
  • Demonstrate exposure to and knowledge of the views and approaches to specific issues in ethics as presented in the writings of several figures/texts from the history of Philosophy. Read and understand historically influential primary source philosophical texts in ethical theory.
  • Demonstrate increased awareness and understanding of complex issues and complex ethical issues as presented in philosophic texts.
