A study of the diagnostic criteria, symptoms, causes and treatments of disorders listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, with an emphasis on current clinical research.
Prerequisites: PSY 1100
Course Outcomes
- Logical analysis of diagnostic problems using synthesis and evaluation of symptoms related to mental disorders.
- Communicate effectively regarding diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders through writing, oral communication, listening, reading, and computer and information literacy.
- Conduct clinical assessment of major psychological disorders using the DSM as a reference.
