PTA 1300 Pathophysiology for the PTA
Recognition of pathology and clinical rationale for the appropriate therapeutic management of physiological responses in body systems associated with commonly treated pathological conditions. One classroom, three lab hours per week.

Course Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate understanding of the pathophysiology of conditions of the cardiovascular, endocrine and metabolic, gastrointestinal, immune, integumentary, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and renal systems, and the medical conditions across the lifespan commonly seen by physical therapist assistants.
- Students will demonstrate appropriate ethics, values, and responsibilities in the physical therapy environment at a refinement level.
- Students will appropriately work within the plan of care established by the physical therapist in the physical therapy environment at a refinement level.
- Students will demonstrate competence in implementing selected components of interventions identified in the plan of care established by the physical therapist in the physical therapy environment at a refinement level.
- Students will demonstrate competence in performing components of data collection skills essential for carrying out the plan of care established by the physical therapist by administering tests and measures (before, during, and after interventions) in the physical therapy environment at a refinement level.
- Students will demonstrate appropriate participation in the healthcare environment at an introductory level.
