PTA 1325 Neuropathophysiology

Structure and function of the nervous system; recognition of pathology and clinical rationale for the appropriate therapeutic management of commonly treated neurological diseases/conditions. One classroom, two lab hours per week.

Prerequisites: Restricted to Majors

Course Outcomes
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of structures and conditions related to the nervous system commonly seen across the lifespan in the physical therapy field.
  • Students will demonstrate appropriate ethics, values, and responsibilities in the field of physical therapy at a refinement level.
  • Students will demonstrate appropriate patient/client management in the practice of physical therapy at a refinement level.
  • Students will appropriately work within the plan of care established by the physical therapist at a refinement level.
  • Students will demonstrate competence in implementing selected components of interventions identified in the plan of care established by the physical therapist in the practice of physical therapy at a refinement level.
  • Students will demonstrate competence in performing components of data collection skills essential for carrying out the plan of care established by the physical therapist by administering tests and measures (before, during, and after interventions) in the practice of physical therapy at a refinement level.
  • Students will identify appropriate participation in the health care environment.
