THE 1101 Theatre Appreciation

Theatre as an art form presented from the historical, literary and production points of view. Includes an exploration into the creative processes associated with the production of plays and the collaborative contributions of the actor, director, designers, playwright, critic and audience.

Prerequisites: NONE

Course Outcomes
  • Differentiate among major periods in theatre history and the influence of history on theatre scripts and production.
  • Fulfill the role of audience member and critic for a live theatre performance by attending performances and writing critiques to evaluate the work of the various artists who collaborate to create theatre productions.
  • Demonstrate ability to carefully read and analyze a play script.
