CIS 1411 - Introduction to Networks 3 Cr. Hr(s). This course covers networking architecture, structure, and functions. The course introduces the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations to provide a foundation for the Network Engineering curriculum. Students will understand the functions and services associated with the two major models (OSI and TCP/IP) used to plan and implement networks. Students will be able to design an IP addressing scheme to provide network connectivity for a small to medium sized network. Use Command Line Interface (CLI) to configure initial settings on routers and switches to implement basic network connectivity between devices.
