END 1421 - Intermediate Polysomnography 3 Cr. Hr(s). The course is designed to assist the Polysomnography Certificate Program in meeting the minimum expectation “to prepare competent entry-level polysomnographic technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.” The course will focus on discussion of the classification of sleep disorders, and the physiological effects of sleep disorders and ramifications/implications on patient health. In addition there will be discussion of medication effects on sleep stages/patterns. Discussion of various therapies for sleep disordered breathing, and other sleep disorders. Discussion on monitoring of nocturnal seizures, and seizure types. Two classroom, three lab hours per week. Prerequisite(s): END 2550 Corequisite(s): END 1425
